Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Vermont business website not listed?

I began compiling the list of websites by going through both printed and online directories to find companies located in Lamoille county, because that is where I live. Then I searched for each one through Google in an attempt to determine if it had a website. This was a very time-consuming process, and I most likely missed a few. I haven't gotten around to the other counties yet. If you are doing business anywhere in the state of Vermont, and would like to be listed, please send me your information, and I will be happy to include it.

Why should I list my business here?

With more than 80% of Vermonters currently using the internet, and the numbers continuing to increase, the web is quickly becoming an avenue of choice for current and prospective customers to find information about products and services that interest them. As this site grows, it will become more valuable as a convenient, one-stop resource for anyone wishing to shop locally, and will provide a cost-effective means to promote your business.

How is this directory different from the others?

It is my intention to make listing your company both easy and affordable, with the result that hopefully more businesses will choose to be listed. Whether you list a full website or a page within this site, you will have the opportunity to show your customers significantly more information than the typical address and phone number offered by most other online directories. This directory will focus on the local geographical area, rather than a particular industry or profession, so that visitors can find everything they are looking for in one place.

Do you plan to expand this website?

I ultimately want to include a link for each and everyone doing business in the state of Vermont who has a physical presence here and wishes to be listed. I would also like to add information for the various municipalities, a calendar of events, and possibly a community forum. However, the site will continue to remain strictly local.

What are the options for advertising on this site?

Presently I have three spots available on the home page. If there is sufficient interest, I will add pages for special offers, coupons, sales, etc. for those companies who participate in such promotions.

Why is this site so plain compared to many others?

Until broadband internet becomes more widely available and affordable throughout the state, many site visitors will be accessing the web through either a home dial-up connection or a public wifi, which may limit or charge for their online time. I have tried to strike a balance between a site that is just plain ugly and one that will take an inordinate time to download, opting for pages that open quickly, allowing people to find the information they are looking for, using the least possible bandwidth.
